Each year, the American Red Cross responds to more than 68,000 disasters (most of them local fires)- earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and other natural and man-made disasters. Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting the immediate emergency needs of people affected by disaster.
The Red Cross provides shelter, food, medical care and mental health services. Financial assistance is provided to help victims resume independent living. All disaster relief is given free of charge as a gift from the American people.

CPR and First Aid Training:
Today, it's easier than ever to learn vital lifesaving techniques and ways to prevent life-threatening emergencies. The American Red Cross offers a wide variety of CPR and first aid courses for people of all ages who have or have not had prior training. Our programs ease the fears that many people have about dealing with emergencies. Course certificates are given to participants who successfully complete course requirements. Available in English and Spanish.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Heath Care Provider (2 year certification)
This course meets requirements for those working in the health and / or emergency services professions.
Lifeguard & Water Safety Program:
The American Red Cross is the nation's leading provider of basic level swim instruction and the premier trainer of lifeguards, lifeguard instructors, swim instructors and water safety professionals. If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard or swim instructor call (209) 523-6451. The Stanislaus Chapter is not providing swimming classes at this time. Please call your local parks and recreation department or health club for swim instruction schedule
CPR Training Equipment Rentals and Sales:
The American Red Cross supports those organizations who conduct their own first aid training programs by making available and daily rentals or purchase of CPR training manikins, course videos and supplies.
California Childcare and Health Safety training (EMSA Approved):
California law requires that at least one staff member at each childcare center and family home day care have 15 hours of certified health and safety training. One staff member certified in pediatric CPR and first aid must be available when children are present. American Red Cross Stanislaus is authorized to teach this EMSA Approved certification course. Available in English and Spanish
Serving Safe Food training (OSHA Approved):
The Serving Safe Food Course was developed by the National Restaurant Association to comply with the Campbell Bill passed January 1,1999. This course includes: techniques on handling and storing food safely, proper temperature and cooking of food, H.A.C.C.P., proper cleaning and sanitizing methods, food service leader's role in measuring risk setting policies, training and supervising employees. Participants who successfully complete the course and written exam will receive a 3 year certification. American Red Cross Stanislaus is authorized to teach the National Restaurant Association Food Safe Handling certification course. Available in English and Spanish
Pet First Aid Cats and Dogs:
Learn the information you need to keep your pet safe and to act with confidence during an emergency. Pet First Aid is not available through the Stanislaus Chapter at this time.
